FP6 funded Astronomy and Astrophysics projects

KM3NeT is a future deep-sea research infrastructure hosting a neutrino telescope with a volume of at least one cubic kilometre to be constructed in the Mediterranean Sea. The R&D work necessary to prepare KM3NeT will be conducted in the framework of an EU-funded Design Study which is expected to start in early 2006. Please click on the logo to find out more:

The VOTech project is a 6.6M Design Study under EU FP6 which aims at completing all technical preparatory work necessary for the construction of the European Virtual Observatory (Euro-VO). Please click on the logo to find out more:

HELAS: The objective of the Helio- and Asteroseismology Network (HELAS) is to coordinate activities among those European institutions and organizations that support Europe's major research groups in helio- and asteroseismology. These groups are widely spread across Europe. The transfer of knowledge, data, and data analysis techniques through HELAS will achieve a structuring of this field of research that is essentially needed in order to prepare the European research community for important opportunities in the immediate future. These opportunities include the NASA space mission Solar Dynamics Observatory, the CNES missions COROT and Picard, all of which will become operational within the next three years, and the ESA mission Solar Orbiter in the next decade. Europlanet: Launched on January 1st 2005, The European Union-funded project European Planetology Network (EuroPlaNet) will provide an important added value to the European Planetology Community and the science produced by the international planetary missions.
