Welcome to OPTICON, the Optical Infrared
Coordination Network.
OPTICON is a project funded by the European commission as part of its Fifth Framework Programme . OPTICON brings together providers and users of European astronomical infrastructures to identify common approaches and improve access for the benefit of all European astronomy.
New OPTICON web pages are under construction and will appear in the Spring. For a very brief summary you can click here.
We are pleased to report that the proposal to the Sixth Framework that OPTICON be funded as an Integrated Infrastructure Initiative has been positively evaluated. Negotiations will soon start on this contract. More details soon.
Free Stuff: OPTICON had a display at the FP6 launch conference in Brussels. You can view our posters and handouts here. You can download them for free, or ask for a copy of our brochure. You can even see a picture of our stand.
You are welcome to browse these pages, but they do not contain any astronomical images or other public outreach information. If you want to learn more about the Royal Observatory click here , or use this link for some nice astronomy pictures. For more about OPTICON, please read on.
If you want a glossy copy by post please email Karen Disney the OPTICON secretary and ask her to post you one.
If you came here by mistake, then try these links if you wanted the
Rock Band or the optical manufacturing
company.
